After protecting the floors and countertops with plastic and drop cloths to assure nothing is damaged, we begin working on your cabinets. We first have to clean all surfaces that will be painted. We do this with a degreasing agent that breaks down and removes any grease from cooking that has made its way to your cabinets. We then sand down all surfaces to help our primer adhere to the wood. We clean everything diligently and then begin disassembling the cabinets. We take the doors and drawers off the cabinets, removing all hardware and making sure to label EVERY screw, door, drawer, hinge, etc. to ensure everything returns to its original location. The doors and drawers are normally taken back to our studio where they will be cleaned again and then painting can start. Using a stain blocking, highly adhesive primer, we put on the first coat. First one side of the doors and drawers and then, once adequate time on our drying rack, we flip them for the other side. After the primer has dried we caulk and repair anywhere necessary. Then, sanding between coats, we put two coats of paint on each side. During these dry times we are painting the cabinets in your kitchen also. We use the same steps as the doors and drawers but this goes quicker because we do not have to factor in flipping. Once everything is painted, the doors and drawers are returned to the kitchen where they are reinstalled. Any kitchen wall or cabinet touch-up that is necessary is done at this time.
