When we come into an area to be painted, the first thing we do is move all furniture to the middle of the room or to an area that will give us plenty of working space. We then protect all floors and furniture with plastic and drop cloths to prevent any unwanted accidents. We also remove any hardware that is not meant to be painted (e.g. cover plates, blinds, curtains, etc.). Using a pole sander, we sand all drywall that will be painted to get off any dust, cobwebs, or any of what we like to call, “boogers” from the wall. We then clean any surface that the dust could have fallen on and begin to caulk. Caulking is key to repairing and preventing any cracks between corners of drywall and edges of trim. Caulking also allows our lines between colors to remain flawless. When the caulking is finished we begin the drywall repair (Steps Listed in: Drywall Repair). After all repair is done and the caulking is dry, we begin to paint. If possible, we will paint all trim/doors and ceilings before we start on the walls. Painting the trim first allows us to tape the baseboards when adequately dry to make sure no sprinkles of wall paint appear. This also leaves us with perfect lines between the wall color and trim color. After the ceiling is done, we can put two coats on the walls paying close attention to not leave any roller marks, brush strokes, or crooked lines. When all paint is dry, we remove any tape and return all hardware and window furnishings. To finish up, we vacuum the area where we worked before we put back the furniture; and we vacuum again when the furniture is back in its proper place. Our goal is to leave your house cleaner than how we found it.
